Recorded in New York at Baker’s Shakedown Sound studio, Confusion was the first time the Manchester band worked with an American producer.

Blending the raw edge of New Order’s synth-pop with the electro and hip-hop aesthetics of early-’80s NYC, Confusion became an underground club anthem and a transatlantic bridge between two music scenes. It also marked one of Factory Records’ earliest ventures into New York dance culture.
