One of the deepest archives in the collection, this lot documents the creation of The Beta Band’s self-titled 1999 album through a rare group of studio artefacts, early demos, working masters and production materials preserved by producer Chris Allison.

At its centre are multiple studio DATs and cassette tapes containing mixes, alternate versions, masters and works-in-progress for tracks associated with the album sessions. Handwritten labels on demos of “The Hard One,” “Round The Bend”, “The Cow’s Wrong” and unreleased recordings developed across two writing sessions during this pivotal period.

The archive also includes photocopied lyrics and original studio notes from Jacob's Studios. Together, these materials provide a detailed view into The Beta Band’s recording workflow, capturing the journey from early demos and studio experimentation through to finished masters and release.

A percentage of Chris Allison's proceeds from this collection will be donated to Restore The Music charity (restorethemusicuk.com), a social impact charity that addresses systemic inequality in music education by providing capital grants to state schools in areas of high socio-economic deprivation.
